The days of Hopenhagen have been inspiring, dynamic, and full of positive vibe. Hopenhagen has created a focus on what we people share regardless of our background.
It was great to see the stream of 30.000 people (representing 438 NGOs, 67 nations) marching through the city on Saturday. "Change the politics, not the climate" was just one of many messages to the politicians at Cop15.

I think Cop15 has given us the opportunity to test our human capacities, - the capacity to learn, innovate, accept, respect and understand, or at least make an effort to try to understand 'the other' that we tend to fear in many context. We have to focus on what we share.

Japan is aiming for 25% cut in carbon emissions by 2020 and has at an early stage announced to unveil 10 bln. dollars over three years in climate aid to developing countries. Well aware of the fact that money alone does not solve the problem, for the first time in my life I see an ambitious plan from the Japanese government, which I think is positive. Japan needs to take initiative and responsibility (and make it explicit) as the second largest economy of the world.

I hope that the political outcome of the conference will reflect global solidarity with respect for local diversity.

... And then it started to snow in Hopenhagen! As it use to do during this time of the year.
'Snow in December in Hopenhagen gives me hope!'

Part 2

Supporting Hopenhagen 「

The  United Nations Climate Change Conference 'COP 15' is currently taking place in Copenhagen.
For a period of 14 days, my hometown is hosting a conference where representatives from more than 100 nations will share thoughts, debate and hopefully reach an agreement on guidelines for building a better future for our planet.

While the politicians are spending hectic days at the conference, the city center is filled with cultural, social, and political activities for the people, - by the people. In these days Copenhagen is turned into 'Hopenhagen'.

'Hopenhagen' is a movement, which aims to raise awareness and interest for climate issues among people. A giant globe at the city hall square is showing messages from people all over the world, who support the idea of making a difference. (Become a citizen of 'Hopenhagen' and write a message here)

The 'Klimaforum09' (Climate Forum 09) presents more than 190 inspiring talks, exhibitions, films, music and theaters - for free!
I am looking forward to get inspired, and hope for a peaceful and fruitful 'COP15.' Enjoy Hopenhagen!

Mr.Akapula / Mr.アカプラの大冒険 Vol.1

ayanomimi Ground Design (Japanese)

"Mr. Akapula" is the title of a cartoon series that I wrote when I was 10. 'Aka' means 'red' in Japanese and '-pula' is a abbreviation of 'pulastic' (which is how you pronounce 'plastic' in Japanese).

What inspired me to write the story was a red plastic 'thing' to close a bag with Japanese beads, which I got when I was a kid. To me it looked like a red man wearing a hat, and so the story began.

"Mr. Akapula" is an alien living on earth, who use his inventions to travel and explorer different planets in the universe. The first story, out of eight in the series, is called 'The big adventure of Mr. Akapula'.

In this story Mr.Akapula finds and fixes a magic hat that takes him to a restaurant on a different planet. The food is amazing, but Mr.Akapula gets in trouble... Will he be able to make it safely back to the earth again...?    To be continued

Trendspotting: Magstræde 16 「CPH

Yesterday a Pizza-book by Gorm Wisweh, chef of restaurant 'Magstræde 16' was published.
It tells the story of the most up-coming Italian restaurant and wine bar in the old center of Copenhagen. The book is filled with great photos and original recipes of the chef.

The restaurant is situated in a historical building in the oldest part of Copenhagen. The menu is simple, and made of the best local ingredients, and the wine is carefully selected from wineries in Italy. The 6 guys behind Magstræde16 have within a year opened another restaurant, 'Skotterup Spiseri&Enotek', in Northern Copenhagen.

The Last Bag

The Danish fashion brand Piet Breinholm - The Last Bag - was recently covered by New York Times' fashion magazine 'Moment'.

The Last Bag in The New York Times Moment

The bags are inspired by the classic Danish school bags from the 1950's, and designed by Piet Breinholm. The re-design includes shoulder straps, which is especially useful when bicycling, as you do here in Denmark.

The bags are hand-made in Denmark, as they were 60 years ago.
Today, The Last Bag represent high fashion items, which you will find at 'Premiere Classe' exhibition in Paris.

The Last Bag in The New York Times Moment

Why 'ayanomimi'?

'ayanomimi's vision is to integrate small and medium sized creative companies in profitable business projects.

The company name 'ayanomimi' means 'Aya's ear' in Japanese.
I wanted the name to be original and easy to pronounce world wide.
The name creates attention among people I meet, and they often ask what it means.

I believe that the activities of 'ayanomimi' automatically start to add meaning to the name, and therefore the most important thing is that the name does not set any limits for the brand.

The Edith & Ella story

The first time I entered the Edith & Ella boutique on Store Kongensgade in central Copenhagen I was totally fascinated by the atmosphere. The interior and the collection were telling a story, which differed from the other Danish fashion brands that I had seen so far.

Edith&Ella

The designer Line Markvardsen established the brand in 2004, and named the company after her two grandmothers 'Edith' & 'Ella', and they have always been the source of inspiration for her collections.

Every Edith & Ella collection has an unique story to tell, and consists of a wide range of items, including lady's wear, bags, belts, shoes and boots. The brand is characterized by its feminine and chic style, which always has a twist of glamour of the past.

Today Edith & Ella has four brand shops in Denmark, the latest opened in 2009 in a historical building at Købmagergade (Copenhagen city center). Moreover, Edith & Ella collaborates with its neighbour 'Royal Café' owned by Royal Copenhagen, where you will be served by waitresses wearing Edith & Ella aprons♡

“Best Young Entrepreneur Award 2009”
‘Årets unge iværksætter 2009’, på Copenhagen School of
Entrepreneurship!
“Der findes to typer iværksættere.
går i luften.
Tusind tak for opbakningen!
